Favorite Ponce moment: I have only had the opportunity to participate in one Ponce de Leon Invitational (2009 in La Quinta, California) but hope to be able to play in it many more times.  It truly is an event that one simply can not describe in words.  It's extremely difficult for me to determine my one favorite moment because I have several; however, one of my favorite Ponce moments would have to be the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday night after the practice round.  The teams, format of the tournament, and all other items of business for the Invitational are announced at this time.  The camaraderie in the room in unprecedented and it is finally "go time."  Also, we have 72 more holes of golf still left to play (not including the practice round we played that day) and the entire trip is still ahead of us.  One other moment which must not go unmentioned is having the opportunity to be hosted by a member of Eldorado Country Club, host of the 1959 Ryder Cup won by the United States team captained by Sam Snead.  Holding the only sanctioned/authentic replica of the Ryder Cup for that year on the 50th anniversary of such event while Dave Stockton's golf bag (signed by all of the U.S. team's Ryder Cup members) from the 2008 United States victory over Europe at Valhalla Golf Club was at my feet truly was amazing.

2009 Ponce Handicap Index: 6
Lowest golf score: 73 (Par 71) Mountain Brrok Club, Al.
Most memorable round:  I was 14 years old and had a hole-in-one on the same hole my father had a hole-in-one on when he was 13 years old.  I shot 78 that day.
Favorite course ever played: I have a difficult time saying that anything is my "favorite" so I don't have one particular favorite golf course but list several (in no particular order) which include:  Harbour Town Golf Links (Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus) in South Carolina, Hawks Ridge Golf Club (Bob Cupp) in Georgia, Mountain Brook Club (Donald Ross) in Alabama, Highlands Country Club (Donald Ross) in North Carolina, Palmilla Golf Club (Jack Nicklaus) in Mexico, and Shoal Creek Golf Club (Jack Nicklaus) in Alabama.
Hole-in-one: Hole #7 at Mountain Brook Club in 1989.  It was about 155 yards to the stick and I hit a Hogan Edge 7-iron.

Favorite PGA tourney: the Ryder Cup (anything patriotic takes the cake), the Masters and the Open Championship (aka The British Open).
Majors attended: (4) PGA Championship at Shoal Creek Golf Club, AL, in 1984 and 1990. Tthe Masters, 2003 and 2008.
Favorite pro: Jack Nicklaus
Lowest round shot by a player in my foursome: C.P. Bagby shot a 64 (-7). Impressive to say the least.
Most famous golfer to have ever played with:  Birmingham's own Hubert Green (19 victories on the PGA tour including the 1977 U.S. Open at Southern Hills Country Club and the 1985 PGA Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club).  Hubert also played on three Ryder Cup teams (1977, 1979 and 1985).  His best finish at The Masters was tied for 2nd and his best finish at The Open Championship was 3rd.

Lowest golf score: 88 at Ocean Reef Club Dolphin Course
Most memorable round: Played 18 holes with Matt Bahr (NY Giants Super Bowl Champion place kicker), Dan Delligati (Pittsburgh native whose grandfather invented the Big Mac), Mike Watson and myself.  Matt Bahr told us great NY Giants stories throughout the round about LT, Parcells, Phil Simms; Dan played at Penn State when they beat Miami led by Testaverde in the Orange Bowl.  We played at the Ocean Reef Club Hammock course, and I lost about 15 balls, drank 12 beers, and smoked 2 stoagies.  Lots of laughs and mediocre golf...
Favorite course ever played:  Torrey Pines South.  I love the Ocean views.
Holes in one: Never, but witnessed one and we piled on top of him and almost hurt the poor guy.

Favorite PGA tourney:: FBR Open in Phoenix.
Majors attended:  None, but atended FBR Open in Scottsdale and Buick Open in Westchester, Ny.
Favorite pro: For a while I really like Robert Gamez because I remember watching as a kid he holed out from 165 yards on a par 4 and got excited but acted like he'd been there.  Also love Chi Chi because he had fun while playing- laughing, smiling, and enjoying life.

Courses: Ocean Reef Club (Key Largo, Fl) and Torrey Pines (La Jolla, Ca)
